While it may seem comforting to surround ourselves with like-minded individuals, this approach can unintentionally create echo chambers that limit our growth and understanding. Drawing inspiration from the historical example of Abraham Lincoln, who intentionally assembled a diverse cabinet with varying opinions, we’ll explore the power of embracing authentic diversity. We’ll delve into the ways assumptions and cognitive biases can unknowingly shape our interactions, perpetuate exclusivity, and limit our ability to learn from one another. We’ll invite you to question the notion of “cultural fit,” instead inviting the richness that comes from embracing those who bring different experiences and viewpoints.
