Unitarian Universalists were early allies in the Women’s and gay rights movements, and adopted innovative and affirming sexuality education for children and adults decades ago. UU’s ordained our first female minister in 1863, our first openly gay minister in 1979, and our first transgender minister in 1988, well ahead of other denominations. The Unitarian Universalist Association is on record stating that “as Unitarian Universalists, we not only open our doors to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, we value diversity of sexuality and gender and see it as a spiritual gift. We create inclusive religious communities and work for LGBTQ justice and equity as a core part of who we are.”
Come join us in considering the spiritual gifts that diversity of gender identity, biological sex, gender expression, and sexual/romantic attraction bring to us all.
