The Moral Universe
Theodore Parker, pioneering American Unitarian abolitionist, spoke in an oft-quoted sermon about the arc of the universe bending towards justice. Martin Luther King, Jr. adopted Parker’s words in one of his own speeches. Is it true? Does the Universe really care? What effect can we truly have on the arc of the universe–are we but a speck of dust in a vast universe, or can we be the butterfly wing whose stroke eventually gives rise to a hurricane? Come hear some thinking about how Unitarians, Universalists, and Unitarian Universalists have embodied the quest for justice, and how we are still doing so today.
