UUP once again is joining in the city-wide celebration of El Día de los Muertos with our own Ritual of Remembrance. This tradition originated in the ancient traditions of Mesoamericans, and today is celebrated in Mexico, parts of Central and South America and now throughout the United States. According to centuries old belief, it is the time when the souls of the dead visit the world of the living, and it is an occasion to remember loved ones that have passed away.
For our multi-generational service, kids and elders alike are invited to bring a photo of a loved one, human or otherwise, that had an impact on your life. We will create a collective altar at church and share dear memories.
