The theme for the month of January is “Trailblazers for Justice” and the topic for the first Sunday is a question: “Politics as Usual?”  Some of us don’t even like politics! What does it mean to work for social justice? Perhaps, it means questioning our assumptions or working outside our comfort zones. Our UUP mission is to “Live your sacred – Transform through love – Act with courage” and being a trailblazer for justice seems to be all about acting with courage. In our “This I Do” service, Marlene Abel, a veteran school board member in the Old Adobe School District, will reflect on her work in addressing equity issues for students and staff. George Beeler will tell us about his work for affordable housing in affiliation with the Petaluma Housing Action Team (PHAT) and the North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP), with Kay Hardy illustrating the importance of this work by sharing her experience with unaffordable housing.
