“We need not think alike to love alike.” Attributed to our spiritual ancestor Francis David, this sentiment has cast a vision for what our congregations can be, and for the kind of world community that we dream of. Yet this month we’ve been reminded yet again, and starkly, that many do not share our vision of pluralism. How do we honor in humility that others hold beliefs radically divergent from our own while acting with conviction to bring about the world we know can be?
