As we continue our January theme, “Trailblazers for Justice,” we learn about Javier Antezana and his personal story in working as an advocate in the most heartbreaking situations and among the most vulnerable people, some of whom who could be quite intimidating.
As a case manager for San Francisco’s General Hospital’s violence-intervention program, the Wraparound Project, Javier was one of the first people to approach a patient’s bedside when doctors rushed a gunshot victim to the Emergency Room. Years later, life changed for Javier when he had a family and m0ved to Sonoma County to become Community Organizer with the Petaluma Day Labor Initiative.
